Aquabus Ferry Boats is a Spanish ferry company founded in 1990, headquartered at the Maritime Station in Eivissa Port, Balearic Islands. Specialising in passenger sea transport between the Pityusic Islands, Aquabus connects Ibiza and Formentera year-round with a fleet that combines affordable traditional vessels and state-of-the-art high-speed catamarans. Its flagship route, Eivissa–La Savina (Formentera), takes just 30 minutes aboard the Aquabus Jets, making it one of the fastest, most affordable and most family-friendly options in the Ibiza Channel. During the season, Aquabus extends its offer with departures from Playa d'en Bossa and organises tourist excursions along the Pityusic coast. Its policy of completely free luggage and pets, combined with low fares for Balearic residents, has established it as the go-to ferry company for connections between the islands.
Aquabus operates between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera throughout the twelve months of the year, with greater sailing frequency in summer. The regular route from Eivissa Port to La Savina (Formentera) runs daily; during the season, additional sailings are added from Playa d'en Bossa and, occasionally, from Sant Antoni.

The Aquabus fleet combines modernity and tradition. Its flagship vessels are the high-speed catamarans Aquabus Jet 1 and Aquabus Jet 2 (42 m in length, 11.3 m beam, 410 passengers, aluminium hull), capable of completing the Ibiza–Formentera crossing in just 30 minutes. Joining them since 2024 is the Aquabus Aquarius (40 m in length, 340 passengers), which reaches up to 30 knots and has set a new standard of comfort and speed on the line. Alongside these next-generation vessels, Aquabus maintains smaller traditional craft in service that sail close to the coast, offering a quieter and more picturesque experience of the Pityusic waters.

Aquabus Jet 1
High-speed catamaran introduced in 2022. Length: 42 m. Beam: 11.3 m. Capacity: 410 passengers. Aluminium hull. Three accommodation categories: Standard, Comfort and Premium. Wi-Fi, bar, outdoor deck and USB ports in the Premium category. Ibiza–Formentera crossing in 30 minutes.
Aquabus Jet 2
Twin of the Aquabus Jet 1, also introduced in 2022. Length: 42 m. Beam: 11.3 m. Capacity: 410 passengers. Same features and accommodation categories. Operates in parallel with Jet 1 to increase sailing frequency, especially in July and August.
Aquabus Aquarius
New catamaran introduced in 2024. Length: 40 m. Capacity: 340 passengers. Top speed: 30 knots. The newest addition to the fleet, it has set a new benchmark for comfort and speed on the regular Eivissa–Formentera line. Features modern indoor spaces and an outdoor open-air deck.
Traditional vessels
Smaller conventional passenger boats that sail close to the Pityusic coast, allowing discovery of coves, cliffs and unique seabeds. These are the star attraction of the tourist excursions that Aquabus organises between May and October around the island of Ibiza.
The vessel assigned to each crossing depends on operational availability and demand. Aquabus reserves the right to substitute the assigned vessel without prior notice whilst maintaining the quality of the service.
Aquabus operates from four boarding points on Ibiza and a single destination on Formentera. Eivissa Port is the central hub active year-round; the other Ibiza boarding points operate during the season. All Aquabus ferries arrive at La Savina Port, the main maritime gateway to Formentera.

Aquabus crossings are very short (between 30 and 120 minutes), so there are no cabins on board. The accommodation offering focuses on comfort during the crossing, with three categories available on the Aquabus Jets and the Aquabus Aquarius:
Prices vary by season, with July and August being peak season when demand is highest. The indicative standard reference price for tourists in season is approximately €21.50 per journey in the Standard category.
Aquabus applies one of the most generous luggage policies on the Ibiza–Formentera route: each passenger may bring all the luggage they can carry unaided, with no limit on number of pieces, size or weight, and at no extra cost. Large suitcases, sports bags, rucksacks and packages are all welcome on board.
Cars cannot be loaded onto Aquabus ferries, as the vessels are exclusively for foot passengers. However, motorcycles can be loaded subject to space availability, completely free of charge. It is recommended to contact Aquabus before travelling to confirm a space. If the motorcycle is a hire bike, you must first verify that the hire contract permits sea transport and check the vehicle access conditions for Formentera. Bicycles are accepted on board free of charge and with no prior booking required.
Pets travel completely free of charge on Aquabus. The company is pet-friendly and welcomes animals of all sizes. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times; medium or large breeds must also wear a muzzle. Animals are not permitted to roam freely around the vessel. Small pets may travel in a carrier. No specific veterinary documentation is required for boarding, although it is always recommended to carry it on inter-island journeys.
Formentera applies restrictions on motor vehicle access during peak season (July–August) to protect the island's environment. If you plan to bring a motorcycle or travel to Formentera with a vehicle, please check the conditions in advance at formentera.eco and verify whether you need to book a motor vehicle access slot. In peak season, book your ticket well in advance, as demand is very high and availability can sell out quickly.
