The final price depends greatly on the season, how far in advance you book, vessel occupancy and the type of accommodation chosen. On long routes, booking a cabin usually makes a significant difference to comfort.
On the Naples – Cagliari, Cagliari – Palermo, Civitavecchia – Arbatax and Civitavecchia – Cagliari routes no luggage limit is set, according to Ferryhopper. On all other connections, the published reference is 1 free item of up to 56 × 45 × 25 cm and 1 small bag or rucksack, with a surcharge applicable for additional luggage. On long crossings it is advisable to bring everything you need into the cabin, as access to the vehicle garage is not normally permitted during the voyage.
Grimaldi Lines accepts cars, motorbikes, vans, bicycles, trailers and motorhomes on many of its routes. It is important to enter the vehicle's actual dimensions and any protruding accessories at the time of booking, especially if travelling with a motorhome, roof rack, roof box or trailer. Once on board, passengers may not remain in or access the vehicle during the crossing unless authorised by the crew.
Pets must be included in the booking and must travel with the required health documentation. Small animals may travel in a pet carrier; dogs, when outside their carrier, must be kept on a lead and muzzled where applicable. On some routes or ships there are pet-friendly cabins and designated outdoor areas are also available, while animals may not remain inside vehicles during the voyage. On EU routes an EU pet passport, microchip and up-to-date vaccinations may be required; on services to Tunisia there are specific documentary requirements and restrictions for certain dog breeds.
