All Ventouris Ferries routes are overnight or 9–19-hour crossings, so choosing the right accommodation has a direct bearing on comfort. On the Bari–Durrës route (~9 hours) travelling in a seat is common; on Ancona–Durrës (~18 hours) booking a cabin is recommended to rest overnight.
Prices vary by season — highest in July and August, lowest in autumn and winter — by how far in advance you book and by vessel availability. It is advisable to book cabin spaces well in advance in summer, as they sell out quickly on both routes.
Each passenger may bring standard hand luggage and a standard-size suitcase at no additional charge. Bulky luggage can be stored in the vessel's hold or in the vehicle boot — although the car deck is not accessible during the crossing. Always take everything essential for the journey to the lounge or cabin: documents, medication and personal items.
Ventouris Ferries accepts cars, motorbikes, motorhomes, caravans and freight vehicles on its ro-pax ferries. When booking it is essential to state the exact vehicle dimensions (length, height and width) to guarantee a car-deck space. Drivers must check in at the port at least 2 hours before departure. The car deck remains closed throughout the crossing and is not accessible under any circumstances once the vessel has departed. Motorbikes must be secured with straps when boarding.
Pets may travel on board in the designated areas: an air-conditioned kennel or the outdoor deck. Compulsory documentation: European pet passport (or equivalent official veterinary document) with implanted microchip and valid rabies vaccination. Dogs must be kept on a lead outside the kennel; potentially dangerous breeds also require an approved muzzle. Pets are not allowed in the indoor lounges. It is recommended to book the pet space when making the main reservation, as kennel capacity is limited.
This route crosses international borders between Italy and Albania (and optionally Greece). A valid passport with at least 6 months' validity is required. EU citizens may enter Albania with a valid national ID card. For pets: Albania requires an official veterinary certificate issued within the 10 days before travel, in addition to the European pet passport. Greece follows standard EU regulations. In peak season (July–August) book well in advance: cabins and car-deck spaces sell out weeks ahead.
