La Palma to Arrecife Ferry: How to Go Without a Direct Ship
With Balearia
There is no direct daily ship between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Arrecife. By ferry you go via Tenerife: from La Palma to Los Cristianos, a transfer to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and from there to Arrecife with Baleària, changing in Las Palmas.
Baleària also publishes a direct connection of more than a day between Arrecife and La Palma, with very low frequency, which we do not treat as certain until the ferry company confirms it.
To book sensibly, start with the least frequent leg, Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Arrecife, and fit the rest around it.
Timetable for going from La Palma to Arrecife by ferry
The search will not give you a single direct departure, because there is no daily ship. The journey is three steps, and the one that rules is Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Arrecife, which does not sail every day: according to Baleària, it is a service that is not daily and that changes by season.
That is why you should search first for the date of that leg and then book the La Palma departure that reaches Santa Cruz de Tenerife with a margin.
There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:
Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.
How long does it take to go from La Palma to Arrecife by ferry?
Much more than a full day if you have to wait between legs: it is two ferries with a land transfer and a wait. Count on sleeping in Tenerife or in Gran Canaria, depending on timetables.
Who runs the La Palma Arrecife ferry
Only Baleària Canarias reaches Arrecife from Tenerife or Gran Canaria. Fred. Olsen has no departures from La Palma to Lanzarote: in Lanzarote it only operates Playa Blanca, with Corralejo.
For the La Palma to Los Cristianos part you can choose between Baleària and Fred. Olsen.
The Baleària Canarias lines that make up this trip came from the former Naviera Armas (now operated by Baleària) and are today run by Baleària Canarias.

Ports of La Palma (Santa Cruz de La Palma) and Lanzarote (Arrecife)
Port of La Palma
How to get to the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma
The first leg leaves Santa Cruz de La Palma and arrives at Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, not at Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Baleària closes boarding about 40 minutes before with a car and 20 on foot.
Arriving at the port of Arrecife
The ferry arrives at Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. For Playa Blanca, in the south, you have to continue by road; the ferry from La Palma does not go there.
