Palma to Menorca Ferry: Mahón with Trasmed or Alcudia–Ciutadella

With Balearia · 6 to 9 daily departures · 1:15 hours - 2:30 hours

To get from Palma to Menorca by ferry there is one direct ferry: Palma–Mahón, with Trasmed, which leaves the port of Palma and arrives at the port of Mahón. It has very few departures, so it is worth checking first whether your date has a sailing.

There is no direct ferry from Palma to Ciutadella. To reach Ciutadella you have to go first to Alcudia, about 55 km from Palma, and cross with Baleària or Menorca Lines.

Residents of the Balearic Islands get a 75% discount on the passenger fare, not on the car. You can travel on foot, with a car or with a dog.

Palma to Menorca ferry timetable

Below you can see the departures for the date you choose. Choosing the route comes first:

  • Palma–Mahón: very few departures, so the trip is fitted to the ferry. You leave directly from Palma and arrive in Mahón, in the east of Menorca.
  • Alcudia–Ciutadella: several departures a day, by fast ferry. It means getting to Alcudia first by road and leaves you in the west of the island.

In summer there are more departures. If you are travelling on high-demand dates, book in advance.

  • Trasmed (Trasmed GLE) on Palma–Mahón: conventional ferry, luggage with no weight limit, pets in an adapted cabin, seat or kennels, and for the car, the exact type and dimensions. Changing the ticket at the port has a cost.
  • Baleària (Alcudia–Ciutadella): fast ferry and conventional ferry, online check-in with a digital card 72 hours before and WhatsApp or SMS alerts.
  • Menorca Lines (Trasmapi), also Alcudia–Ciutadella: pets free of charge on a lead or in a carrier and 20 kg of luggage without a vehicle.

Palma to Menorca ferry price

The price shown above is the lowest recent fare. To compare properly, add the transfer: Palma–Mahón leaves from Palma; Alcudia–Ciutadella means first getting to Alcudia by car, taxi or bus. The car is paid separately on both routes, and the resident discount does not apply to it. In summer and during Menorca's festivals, prices go up sooner.

Balearic resident discount: Palma Menorca

If you live in the Balearic Islands you get a 75% discount on the passenger ticket, with all three ferry companies. It does not apply to the car, the pet or extras. Say you are a resident in the search on iloveferry.com/ferris; all passengers on the booking must be. With an authorised parking card, Baleària also gives a reduction on the vehicle on inter-island routes. More in Balearic resident discount.

Large family on the Palma Menorca ferry

On domestic routes, large families with a Spanish title get 20% (general) or 50% (special) off the passenger ticket. It does not apply to the car. Bring the original title and your identity document. More in ferry with large family discount.

Palma to Menorca ferry with a car

With Trasmed you can take your car from Palma to Mahón and you disembark at the port of Mahón, in the city. If you prefer Alcudia–Ciutadella, you have to get to Alcudia first, roughly an hour by road from Palma, and remember that with Menorca Lines and a vehicle, the open ticket is not valid. State the real type and dimensions when booking.

Palma to Menorca ferry with a dog

On Palma–Mahón, Trasmed accepts pets in an adapted cabin, a seat (under 8 kg, in a carrier) or kennels. On Alcudia–Ciutadella, the crossing is short and Menorca Lines accepts pets free of charge on a lead or in a carrier; Baleària accepts a carrier of up to 10 kg in the lounge and has a pet-friendly seat or cabin on some ships. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.

I Love Ferry tips for travelling from Palma to Menorca

  1. Start with your destination in Menorca. Mahón for the direct ferry from Palma; Ciutadella if your accommodation is in the west, via Alcudia.
  2. If you are going to Ciutadella with a car, add the hour's drive to Alcudia and arrive with a margin: in high season a lot of people gather.

  4. If it is windy, Baleària offers alternatives whatever the fare and, if there are none, a free change or a full refund. Leave your mobile number when booking.
