History and background of the ship
The Eivissa Jet is the sister ship of the Formentera Jet, built a year earlier, in 1986, at the same Kvaerner Fjellstrand yard in Omastrand (Norway), yard number 1574 and IMO 8615241. She crossed the Atlantic to work in the Caribbean as Caribbean Princess (1986–1990) and arrived in Spain in 1990, bought by the operator Transtour and renamed Sevilla Dos and later Sevilla Noventa y Dos to run the special services of the 1992 Seville World's Fair. After the event she was acquired by Trasmapi and renamed Eivissa Jet, working the Ibiza–Formentera route without a break for three decades alongside her twin. In May 2023 she was given a full refit and re-engining, moving from the Trasmapi brand into the Formentera Lines fleet — the same company, a new brand — where she still covers the same line each summer season.

The two ports on the route: Ibiza and La Savina
The Eivissa Jet sails between two ports that are very different from one another, and it is worth knowing what to expect before you travel:
Port of Ibiza (Eivissa): The Ibiza–Formentera ferry terminal sits in the centre of Ibiza town, right beside the old quarter. Ferries to Formentera do not leave from Marina Botafoch — that berth is reserved for the big scheduled ferries to the mainland and Mallorca — but from the dedicated Pitiusas terminal on Avinguda de Santa Eulària. From Ibiza airport, some 10 km away, you can get there by taxi (~20 minutes) or on EMT Ibiza bus route 10 (every 20–30 min). If you are driving, there are long-stay car parks five minutes' walk from the ferry terminal (Parking des Pratet).
Port of La Savina (Formentera): This is the only way into Formentera, as the island has no airport and no other transport links with mainland Spain. Set in the village of La Savina on the north-west coast, it is a few minutes from the resort of Es Pujols and well connected to the rest of the island by bus (routes L1 and L2) and by the bicycle, scooter and car hire desks at the port itself.
A word of warning if you are taking a car to Formentera: Over the summer months (15 June to 15 September) the island applies the Formentera ECO rules, which require you to register your vehicle and pay a fee before you can drive it on the island. Check the details at formentera.eco before you board. Turning up without it can mean a fine on arrival.
