Arrecife to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Ferry: Timetables and Booking
With Balearia · from 6 h
The Lanzarote to Las Palmas ferry leaves from the port of Arrecife and arrives at the port of La Luz, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is run by Baleària Canarias and sails every day of the year.
“Las Palmas” is the name of the Gran Canaria port on this line: it is the same route as Lanzarote Gran Canaria, just written with the name of the arrival city.
The crossing takes several hours, with cabins with a bathroom. If you are in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, the ferry does not leave from there: you have to go to Arrecife by road.
Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry timetable
Below you can see the sailings for your date. Baleària Canarias runs the route every day of the year, with a ferry with cabins designed for the long crossing.
Here, “Las Palmas” and “Gran Canaria” are the same destination. If you search by city, you will see exactly the same sailings as if you search by island.
Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.
How long does the Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry take?
Several hours: it is one of the longest crossings between islands. That is why there are cabins and sailings designed for sleeping on board. In the timetable you see the exact duration of each sailing and which ship runs it.
Who runs the Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry
Baleària Canarias runs the ferry between Las Palmas and Arrecife on its own. It is the former Naviera Armas line (now operated by Baleària).
Fred Olsen does not run this route: in Lanzarote it only has Playa Blanca, and from there it only sails to Corralejo (Fuerteventura). So between Gran Canaria and Lanzarote the choice is about date and accommodation, not ferry company.
The difference from the other Canary routes is the duration: it is one of the long crossings in the archipelago, and the ferry company provides cabins with a bathroom. Travel at an overnight pace: spend the night on board if you choose a sailing in that slot.
Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry price
The price above is the lowest recent one for an adult. As it is a long crossing, count on the type of accommodation: standard seat, superior seat or cabin, and the VIP and Premium extras.
Premium includes a hot meal, priority boarding with a vehicle and a refund on cancellation; VIP, a separate lounge, a snack, a drink and a change of date or time. Compare what you need.
Resident discount on the Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry
Residents of the Canary Islands get a 75% discount on the fare between islands with Baleària. The discount does not apply to the vehicle, the pet or additional services, so the real saving on a trip with a car is smaller.
You can work out your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by switching on “Resident in the Canary Islands?” in the results search; the 75% applies only to the fare.
- Residence is proved through an electronic system. If it fails, you need a valid certificate of residence and the identity document shown on it.
- More information in Canary Islands resident discount.
Large family discount Lanzarote Las Palmas
If you have a large family card, the discount is 20% (general) or 50% (special) on the fare, and it can be combined with the resident one. Bring the valid card. Guide: ferry with large family discount.
Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry with a car
It takes cars, motorbikes, vans, caravans, motorhomes, bicycles and trailers (added to the car). The vehicle is declared with its dimensions when you book, and it cannot travel without a passenger.
The car deck cannot be accessed during the crossing: take up to the cabin what you need for several hours (chargers, medication, a coat). If the car is a rental, confirm with the company that it can be taken on board.
Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry with a dog
Baleària accepts pets with their own accommodation, which goes on the booking: Pet&You and Pet&You XL (a mat next to your seat), Pet Friendly seat (in a carrier), calm kennels (ventilated spaces, with video surveillance on some ships) and a pet friendly cabin, where the dog sleeps with you.
You need the pet's boarding card and a valid health record. It cannot stay in the car. Dogs leave the ship last. On such a long crossing, the pet friendly cabin is the most comfortable option. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.
On board: seat, cabin and food
There is a lobby, standard seat, superior seat and double, four-berth and connecting cabins, inside and outside, all with a bathroom. Cabins exist only on ships that have them, so check the accommodation when you choose a sailing.
There is also food service on board. For anyone who does not want a hotel night, the cabin replaces a booking and has you ready for the next day.
Ports of Lanzarote (Arrecife) and Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)
Port of Las Palmas de G.C.
Port of Arrecife: what to expect
The port of Arrecife is the one in the capital of Lanzarote and the only one on the line with Las Palmas. It is compact, with the vehicle boarding area separate from the passenger one. Baleària closes boarding about 40 minutes before with a car and asks for about 20 without one, so arrive with a cushion.
Arrival at the port of La Luz, in Las Palmas
The ferry docks at La Luz. There is a free Ferry Bus on some sailings between the Oficina de la Fundación Puerto de Las Palmas and the Nelson Mandela Quay / La Esfinge. If you miss it, the port is a taxi or bus ride from Santa Catalina and Las Canteras.
Documents for the Lanzarote Las Palmas ferry
Valid identity (DNI, NIE or passport) for each passenger. With a car: registration document, technical data sheet and insurance. With a pet: health record. With a discount: large family card or resident accreditation.
