European Union citizens residing in the Balearic Islands can also benefit from this 75% discount on the passenger fare.
When booking your ferry tickets, you will see a dropdown menu where you can select whether you are a resident or not. If you select your Balearic Islands residency status, the price will be updated immediately, and your resident discount will be applied.
It is not until the end of the booking process that you can select with or without residency. When making your reservation, you will have to provide the number of your document proving your residency (ID card, NIE, or passport) and, if necessary, you will have to prove your residency status with a valid residency certificate issued by your municipality.
The most important conditions for the application of this resident discount are:
- The discount does not apply to the vehicle price.
- The discount applies to any type of accommodation (cafeteria, Sirena or Neptuno seat, cabin, or VIP).
- It is mandatory to have and be able to show the necessary valid residency documentation.
Documentation required for residents of the Balearic Islands:
Baleària's booking system is integrated into the Ministry of Development's SARA telematic system. This integration allows verifying whether the applicant for the Balearic Islands resident discount meets the requirements to obtain the discount on their passage.
- When the result of the verification is positive, boarding passes can be obtained, and online check-in can be performed. At boarding, only the passenger has to present an original and valid identification document: ID card (Spanish citizens except minors under 14) or NIE/Passport (foreign citizens). Babies under one year of age who are residents of the Balearic Islands do not need to present a residency certificate.
- If the result of the verification is negative, the passenger must go to the shipping company's ticket offices and present the original and valid Residency Certificate in the Balearic Islands. Foreign citizens, citizens of a European Union country, must also present the Certificate of Registration of Union Citizen to be entitled to the discount. Along with these original and valid certificates, you must show an original and valid identification document: ID card (Spanish citizens except minors under 14) or ID card from your country/Passport (foreign citizens).
The residency certificate in the Balearic Islands expires after 6 months, so it is mandatory to renew it to obtain the requested discount.
⚠️ TIP: If you have to go to the shipping company's ticket offices to obtain your boarding passes, you can go before the boarding day to avoid waiting on the day of your trip.
