Ibiza to Barcelona Ferry: Cabin, Car and Late Disembarkation
With Balearia, Trasmed · 17 to 21 weekly departures · 9:00 hours - 10:00 hours
The ferry from Ibiza to Barcelona is run by Baleària and Trasmed. It leaves Ibiza and arrives at one of the terminals of the port of Barcelona; the terminal depends on the ferry company and is shown on your ticket.
It is a long crossing, with overnight sailings and cabins. With Baleària, on overnight routes there is late disembarkation in your cabin.
Residents of the Balearic Islands get a 75% discount on the passenger fare, which does not apply to the car.
At I Love Ferry you compare the two ferry companies for your date and book at the ferry company's price.
Ibiza to Barcelona ferry timetable
In the search you can see the departures for the date you choose, with their ferry company. There are overnight sailings, with a cabin, and the choice changes with the season: in summer there are more sailings than in winter, and at Easter and bank-holiday weekends services are increased. Some ferry companies do not sail every day of the week: check the specific day.
If you are coming back to Ibiza, buy the return together with the outward trip: that secures your date and, with a car in summer, simplifies the authorisation.

Ferry companies on the Ibiza to Barcelona route
- Baleària: in the ferry company's help centre, Ibiza is listed among the destinations from Barcelona. It has standard, superior and VIP seats, double or quad cabins, a restaurant, and the late disembarkation service on overnight routes.
- Trasmed GLE (Grimaldi group): conventional overnight ferries, luggage with no weight limit, and ticket changes that cost more at the port. Book in advance in July and August.
Ibiza to Barcelona ferry price
The price above is the lowest recent price for one adult without a car. It is a long crossing, so the final price adds up what you choose:
- The accommodation: a seat (the basic option) or a cabin, which costs more and sells out sooner in summer.
- The car, which is paid separately from the passenger and depends on its dimensions.
- The date and how far ahead you book.
The resident discount lowers the passenger fare, not the car.
Balearic resident discount
If you live in the Balearic Islands you get a 75% discount on the passenger ticket. It applies to any accommodation, cabin included, and not to the car. Say you are a resident in the search on iloveferry.com/ferris and bring your DNI or NIE and, if asked, your certificate of residence. All passengers on the booking must be residents; if not, make separate bookings.
Large family discount
Large families get 20% (general category) or 50% (special category) off the passenger ticket, but not off the car. Trasmed advertises a discount for large families on its routes. Bring your valid card and the document of each traveller. With this discount, Baleària may ask you to collect your boarding passes at the ticket office.
Ibiza to Barcelona ferry with a car
You can take a car, motorbike, van or motorhome. When booking, state the type, make and model; with Baleària, the car must be the one on the ticket, with the length and height booked. With Baleària you must be at the port 90 minutes ahead.
- Leaving Ibiza needs no authorisation. Entering does, from 1 June to 30 September. If you plan to return with the car, buy a return with the same ferry company: Baleària handles the stay authorisation and covers the fee, if there is one. With a one-way ticket only, you apply for it yourself at ibizacircular.es.
- The vehicle deck is closed during the crossing. Take down beforehand what you need for the night.
- Barcelona is a low-emission zone: check whether your car can drive in on disembarking.
Ibiza to Barcelona ferry with a dog
On an overnight crossing, Baleària's pet-friendly cabin is the most comfortable: it takes up to two animals if together they weigh no more than 30 kg, and you can leave them alone in the cabin. Otherwise there is a pet-friendly seat (up to 8 kg in a carrier) or a calm kennel (casita de calma). With Trasmed, pets travel in an adapted cabin, a seat (under 8 kg, in a carrier) or kennels. You can never leave them in the car. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.

Trasmed leaves from another terminal in the port, which your ticket will state.

From the terminals there are taxis and city transport to the centre; the port is a low-emission zone. With a car, check the regulations before you set off: you could be fined.
