La Gomera to Valle Gran Rey Ferry: Routes, Operators and Timetables
With Fred Olsen
There are two legs for getting to Valle Gran Rey by ferry: from San Sebastián de La Gomera or from Playa de Santiago, both with Fred. Olsen Express. The ship arrives at the port of Vueltas, in the valley.
There is no direct ferry from Tenerife to Valle Gran Rey: you have to go to San Sebastián with Fred. Olsen or Baleària and take the inter-island ship from there. It is two tickets and the connection between them is not guaranteed.
Canary Islands residents get a 75% discount on the passenger fare.
La Gomera Valle Gran Rey ferry timetable

Who runs the La Gomera ferries
Fred. Olsen Express is the only ferry company with an inter-island circuit in La Gomera, using the small ship of its fleet, which links San Sebastián, Playa de Santiago and Valle Gran Rey. Baleària Canarias only runs San Sebastián–Los Cristianos.
Anyone arriving from Tenerife has to go through San Sebastián: there is no direct ferry from Los Cristianos to Playa de Santiago or to Valle Gran Rey. The websites of both ferry companies confirm this.
La Gomera Valle Gran Rey ferry price
The price you see above is the lowest recently found for a non-resident adult without a vehicle. Each row of the table has its own: the leg changes the amount and the date hardly moves it, because there are few departures.
Canary Islands resident discount in La Gomera
Fred. Olsen's 75% Canary Islands resident discount applies on the inter-island route of La Gomera. Only on the passenger fare, not on the car. It is verified through SARA; if it does not come up as verified, a certificate of residence from the town hall. More in Canary Islands resident discount.
You can calculate your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by switching on «Resident in the Canary Islands?» in the results search; the 75% applies only to the passenger fare.
Large family discount
20% general and 50% special on the passenger fare, which can be combined with the resident discount. More in ferry with large family discount.
La Gomera Valle Gran Rey ferry with a dog
Fred. Olsen accepts pets with their own ticket and limited spaces. There is a pet carrier, a kennel with a camera on deck and a sofa with a lead, depending on the ship. A microchip is compulsory. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.
Ports of La Gomera and La Gomera (Valle Gran Rey)
Port of Valle Gran Rey
Departure ports: San Sebastián and Playa de Santiago
San Sebastián is next to the centre of the capital and receives the ferries from Tenerife. Playa de Santiago is a small port on the south coast. If the ship you take from the capital stops at Playa de Santiago, you will see it in the route in the timetable.
Arriving at the port of Vueltas, in Valle Gran Rey
The port of Vueltas is in the Valle Gran Rey valley, in the southwest of La Gomera, a destination for hiking and beaches. To get around the valley you can walk between the districts; to leave it, there are infrequent buses.
Getting around La Gomera
In the valley you can walk between districts and beaches. To get to other parts of the island there are infrequent buses, taxis and hire cars: confirm the return timetable before going far.
Documents for the La Gomera ferries
To board, an identity document is enough: a valid DNI, NIE or passport. Fred. Olsen works without check-in or a printed card, and the digital DNI is only valid if you show it from the MiDNI app; a screenshot is not accepted.
If you are travelling with a minor without a document, the ferry company handles it as a "minor without a document", with the guardian's DNI, and the family record book is requested at boarding. With a resident or large family discount, also bring the document that proves it.
