How long does it take to get from Mahón to Alcudia by ferry?

It depends on the route. The direct Trasmed ferry links Mahón and Alcudia without changing ship; the duration of each sailing is shown in the timetable. The Ciutadella–Alcudia crossing is the short hop between the two islands, on a fast ferry, preceded by a stretch by road to Ciutadella. Via Palma, the Trasmed ship is a half-day crossing, with no fast ferry.

  • Baleària (Ciutadella–Alcudia): fast ferry and conventional ferry, online check-in with a digital card and WhatsApp or SMS alerts if the sailing changes.
  • Menorca Lines (Trasmapi), also Ciutadella–Alcudia: takes cars, motorbikes, vans and bicycles, pets free on a lead or in a carrier and 20 kg of luggage without a vehicle. With a vehicle the open ticket is not valid.
  • Trasmed (Grimaldi group): Mahón–Alcudia direct and Mahón–Palma, with a conventional ferry, luggage with no weight limit and, for pets, an adapted cabin, a seat or kennels.

The direct sailing from Mahón to Alcudia is Trasmed's; those of Baleària and Menorca Lines leave from Ciutadella.

Mahón Alcudia ferry price

If you see a direct sailing, the price above is the lowest recent fare for an adult without a car. If you take an alternative, add up all the pieces:

  • Via Ciutadella: the bus or car to Ciutadella and the short ferry to Alcudia.
  • Via Palma: the Trasmed ship and the kilometres to Alcudia.
  • The car: paid separately from the driver and depends on its dimensions.

The resident discount lowers the passenger fare, not the car.

Balearic Islands resident discount

If you live in the Balearic Islands you get a resident discount on the passenger ticket on inter-island routes (according to each ferry company's resident fare; check in the search box). It does not apply to the car, the pet or extras.

  • Say you are a resident in the search box at iloveferry.com/ferris. With Baleària, all passengers on the booking must be residents.
  • Bring your DNI or NIE and the certificate of residence.
  • With Baleària, if you have an authorised parking card and live in the Balearic Islands, your vehicle gets a reduction on inter-island routes: state reduced mobility when booking.

Large family discount

The Spanish certificate gives 20% (general) or 50% (special) off the passenger fare, not the car. Bring the original certificate or individual card, in force, and each traveller's identity document. Guide: ferry with a large family discount.

How to get from Mahón to Alcudia with a car

With a car, the direct Trasmed ferry takes you to Alcudia without going through Ciutadella. State the type, make and model when booking; Trasmed says to arrive 60 minutes ahead with a vehicle and 30 on foot. During Menorca's fiestas, book the car deck in good time.

If your date has no direct sailing, the Ciutadella route is usually the most practical: you drive about 45 km to the port and cross to Alcudia with Baleària or Menorca Lines, which take vehicles. Via Palma, you put the car on board in Mahón with Trasmed on a line with few sailings and declare the exact dimensions: changing the ticket at the port is costly.
