Tenerife to Fuerteventura Ferry: Santa Cruz to Morro Jable
With Fred Olsen
To get from Tenerife to Fuerteventura by ferry, you have to leave from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and arrive at Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura. It is run by Baleària Canarias, with a stop in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
There is no sailing without a stop: some sailings continue on the same fast ferry and others require changing ship in Las Palmas. It is a single booking and the total time is several hours.
From Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, there is no ferry to Fuerteventura: you first have to get to Santa Cruz de Tenerife by road or with the Ferry Bus.
Residents of the Canary Islands get 75% off the passenger fare. On I Love Ferry you see the sailings for your date and book at the ferry company's price.
Tenerife to Fuerteventura ferry timetable
Below you see the sailings for the date you choose. On this route, what matters is not only the departure time: check in the details whether the sailing continues on the same ship or whether you change in Las Palmas. The second option can be a little cheaper or fit better, but it means keeping an eye on the connection.
There are sailings every day of the year and the return route has its own page: Fuerteventura Tenerife ferry.
There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:
Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.
How long does the ferry from Tenerife to Fuerteventura take?
Several hours, because it includes the stop in Las Palmas. The sailing that continues on the same ship is the fastest; the one that changes ship adds the wait for the connection. In the timetable you see the duration of each sailing and the ship.
Who runs the Tenerife Fuerteventura ferry
This route is run by Baleària Canarias, the ferry company that took over the lines of the former Naviera Armas (now operated by Baleària) in the Canary Islands. It links Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Morro Jable via Las Palmas.
Fred. Olsen shows the Fuerteventura–Tenerife combination on its website, but without indicating ports, and we do not have it as a direct route. What Fred. Olsen does have is Las Palmas–Morro Jable and Agaete–Santa Cruz: they can be chained with two tickets (see alternatives).
Tenerife to Fuerteventura ferry price
The price above is the lowest recent one for an adult without a vehicle. It changes with the time, the accommodation (standard or superior seat, and the VIP or Premium extras) and the vehicle, which is paid separately.
It is a single booking with two legs: you do not pay for two separate tickets or have to manage the connection yourself.
Resident discount on the Tenerife Fuerteventura ferry
Residents of the Canary Islands get 75% off the passenger fare with Baleària. It does not apply to the car, the pet or additional services.
You can calculate your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by switching on «Resident in the Canary Islands?» in the results search; the 75% applies only to the passenger fare.
- Residence is verified online; if that fails, you need a certificate of residence plus the identity document named on it.
- Guide: Canary Islands resident discount.
Large family discount Tenerife Fuerteventura
A large family gets 20% (general) or 50% (special) off the passenger fare, and it can be combined with the resident discount. Bring your valid card. More in ferry with large family discount.
Tenerife to Fuerteventura ferry with a car
Baleària carries cars, motorbikes, vans, caravans, motorhomes, bicycles and scooters. You declare the vehicle when booking, with its dimensions, and it cannot travel without a passenger. On the sailing with a change of ship in Las Palmas, check in the details what the connection is like before paying.
If your vehicle is a rental, confirm with the company that it allows you to take it to another island. There is no access to the car deck during the crossing: take what you need up to the cabin.
Tenerife to Fuerteventura ferry with a dog
Baleària accepts pets with their own accommodation, which is added in the booking: Pet&You (a mat next to your seat), Pet Friendly seat (in a carrier) or calm kennels, depending on the ship. You need the pet's boarding card and a valid health record. It cannot stay in the car and is not accepted on the Ferry Bus, so from Los Cristianos to Santa Cruz you will have to make your own way. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.
On board: seat and comfort on a long journey
You travel in a standard (Sirena) or superior (Neptuno) seat. With the VIP extra there is a separate lounge, a snack, a drink and a change of date or time. Cabins are only on the ships that have them and the fast ferries on this line are not among them, so do not count on a night on board.
Ports of Tenerife (Santa Cruz) and Fuerteventura (Morro Jable)
Port of Morro Jable
How to get to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The ferry to Fuerteventura leaves from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the north of the island, not from Los Cristianos. If you are in the south or at Tenerife South airport, allow for the journey along the TF-1. Baleària has a free Ferry Bus between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos for passengers without a vehicle with a combined ticket; it does not accept pets.
Arriving at the port of Morro Jable
The ship arrives at Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura, the Jandía area. If your destination is Corralejo or Puerto del Rosario, in the north and centre, there is a long road journey left: the island is long and narrow and has three different ports with different connections.
Documents for the Tenerife Fuerteventura ferry
A valid identity document for each passenger. With a car: vehicle registration document, technical data sheet and insurance. With a pet: health record. With a discount: certificate of residence if the online verification does not recognise you, or large family card.
I Love Ferry tips for the Tenerife Fuerteventura ferry
- Same ship or change. It is the first thing to check: the sailing with a change in Las Palmas works, but leave a margin in case you arrive late at the port.
- Santa Cruz, not Los Cristianos. If you sleep in the south of Tenerife, work out the time to Santa Cruz before choosing a sailing.
- Morro Jable is the south. If your accommodation is in Corralejo, the ferry does not leave you close.
- Wind and sea. Baleària may change the time or ship because of the weather and notifies the mobile and email on the booking.
- Resident. calculate your price on I Love Ferry (iloveferry.com/ferris) by switching on «Resident in the Canary Islands?»; the car pays the full fare.
Why book the Tenerife Fuerteventura ferry with I Love Ferry
- You see the type of sailing (same ship or change) before paying.
