Ferries from Dénia (Alicante) and Ibiza to Formentera arrive at the Port of La Savina, located on the west side of the island.
La Savina is the smallest of the Balearic ports and is the only point of entry for both passengers and goods to Formentera. It has a passenger terminal that houses ferry company offices, a café-bar, and public toilets. Outside the terminal, there are rental offices for cars, motorbikes, bicycles, and leisure boats.
We recommend visiting the beaches of Ses Illetes, Migjorn and Es Caló. Ses Illetes is a protected natural park and requires an entrance fee (around €2 per person and car). Migjorn is very large and offers plenty of parking for your car. Es Caló is much smaller and parking is more difficult to find — it's better to go by scooter or motorbike.

Balearia is the only ferry company that operates the Denia – Formentera route between the city of Denia (Alicante) and the beautiful Mediterranean island of Formentera. As Formentera has no airport, the only way to reach it is by sea. You can only get there from Ibiza or directly from Denia by ferry.
From Denia: departures are from the port of Denia (Alicante) and arrive at the port of La Savina (Formentera). The ferry departs Denia at 08:30 and arrives in Formentera at 10:30, making the crossing in just 2 hours. In summer (from 1st June to 31st October), frequencies increase, and you can travel by ferry departing Denia at 17:00 and arriving in Menorca at 21:30 after a stopover in Ibiza, or take the direct fast ferry departing at 18:00 and arriving in Formentera at 20:00. Balearia’s high-speed ferries *Eleanor Roosevelt* and *Ramon Llull* operate this direct route from Denia to Formentera.
- From Dénia: the best way to reach Formentera from Valencia is by driving to Dénia (Alicante), about one hour by car, and boarding the Dénia – Formentera ferry operated by Balearia. The crossing takes approximately two hours. Balearia is the only ferry company that operates this route.
- From Valencia to Ibiza and from Ibiza to Formentera: another option is to travel by boat from Valencia to Ibiza (Botafoch), switch ferry and port, and continue the journey from the main ferry terminal in Ibiza Town to the port of La Savina in Formentera. This option takes between 6 and 8 hours. You can make this journey with Balearia (for both legs), or travel with GNV and Trasmed on the Valencia–Ibiza route, and with Trasmapi on the Ibiza–Formentera route.
Yes, if you are a resident of Formentera or another Balearic Island (Formentera, Mallorca or Menorca) and your journey starts or ends at any of these islands, a discount will be applied to the total price of your ferry ticket.
PLEASE NOTE: Any European Union citizen residing in Formentera or another Balearic Island (Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca or Menorca) is considered a Balearic Islands resident, provided they are officially registered in the municipality of their usual residence. To benefit from resident ferry discounts, the origin and/or destination of your crossing must be one of the mentioned islands, and the fare must allow for it.
Residents of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca are entitled to a 75% discount on the passenger fare.
Passengers residing in Formentera receive an 89% discount on the passenger fare for routes between Ibiza and Formentera.
These resident discounts only apply to the passenger fare. All types of vehicles (cars, vans, motorbikes, scooters, mopeds) and pets are excluded from the discount.
Although there is now an automated system that applies the resident discount by simply presenting your national ID (DNI), you should always have supporting documentation available, as it may be requested at Balearia offices or during boarding.
The documentation required for passengers who are residents of Formentera or the Balearic Islands (Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera) to obtain the resident discount on boat tickets is as follows:
When entering the passenger’s ID number (DNI/NIE) or passport during the booking process, Balearia’s system automatically verifies whether the passenger is registered in the SARA (System of Applications and Networks of the Administration) as a resident of Formentera or the Balearic Islands.
If the system confirms the passenger’s residency in Formentera or the Balearic Islands, the corresponding passenger fare discount will be applied (provided the origin and/or destination of the journey is one of the Balearic Islands). In this case, online check-in is available. It will only be necessary to present the ID or passport at the time of boarding. Children under the age of one who are residents of Formentera or the Balearic Islands are not required to present any proof of residency.
If the system does not detect the passenger’s residency in Formentera or the Balearic Islands, the passenger must go in person to the Balearia ticket office to collect their boarding passes. The original and valid residency certificate must be presented together with supporting identification (DNI, NIE, or passport).
