Valencia to Ibiza Ferry: Overnight, with a Car and a Cabin

Three ferry companies run the Valencia to Ibiza crossing: Baleà ria, Trasmed GLE and GNV. They leave the port of Valencia and arrive at the port of Ibiza town on an overnight crossing with a conventional ferry and cabins.
There is no fast ferry on this route. You leave at night and arrive in Ibiza in the early hours, so booking a cabin is the usual choice. With Baleà ria you can also book late disembarkation to sleep a little longer.
From 1 June to 30 September, non-resident cars need authorisation from the Consell d'Eivissa. With a return ticket with the same ferry company you will not have to apply for it separately.
Residents of the Balearic Islands get a 75% discount on the passenger fare, not on the car.

On this route all departures are overnight: you board in the evening and disembark in Ibiza in the early hours. Check the arrival time before booking your accommodation: a ferry that arrives very early can leave you waiting.
The offer changes by season. In winter, some ferry companies rest one day a week; in summer it is stepped up. With three companies there is almost always a departure every day.

How long does the ferry from Valencia to Ibiza take?
Several hours overnight: it is not a route for a day trip. You can see the exact duration of each departure in the timetable, and the ship in the ships section. Who runs the Valencia to Ibiza ferry
- Baleà ria: standard, superior and VIP seats, and double or quadruple cabins, inside or outside. On overnight departures it offers late disembarkation in your cabin. Baleà ria Club points scheme.
- Trasmed GLE (part of the Grimaldi group; formerly Trasmediterránea in the Balearic Islands): overnight conventional ferries based in Valencia, luggage with no weight limit and a discount for Balearic residents. Changing the ticket at the port costs money.
- GNV: seat and cabin, cabins that accept pets, up to two suitcases in the Balearic Islands, a resident fare and the myGNV Club.

Valencia to Ibiza ferry price
The price you see above is the lowest recent price for an adult without a car, with the date on which we checked it. On an overnight route, the accommodation matters most:
- Seat or cabin: the cabin is paid separately and raises the total, but it changes the night.
- The ferry company: compare all three for your date before deciding.
- The car: it is paid separately from the driver and depends on its dimensions.
- The date: July, August and long weekends cost more.
- The fare: with Baleà ria, the Mini fare allows two date changes without penalty but does not allow cancellation; the Reducida fare allows cancellation with a refund depending on how many days are left.
Balearic resident discount
If you live in the Balearic Islands you get a 75% discount on the passenger ticket from Valencia to Ibiza, because the destination is in your region. It does not apply to the car, the pet or extras.
- State that you are a resident in the search form at iloveferry.com/ferris. With Baleà ria, all passengers on the booking must be residents; if not, separate bookings.
- Bring your DNI or NIE and the certificate of residence. For a child, their own certificate.
- If you are a resident from outside the EU, Baleà ria asks for a residence certificate and a long-term or permanent residence permit.
- GNV and Trasmed have their own resident fare: confirm their procedure when booking.

Large family discount
The Spanish certificate gives 20% (general) or 50% (special) off the passenger fare, not the car. Each traveller needs their own individual certificate or card, original and valid, and their identity document.
With Baleà ria, the first time or with more than six months between trips, boarding passes are not sent digitally and are collected at the ticket office. Guide: ferry with large family discount.
Valencia to Ibiza ferry with a car
All three ferry companies carry cars, motorbikes, vans and motorhomes. State the vehicle type, make and model when booking: with Baleà ria it must match the one on the ticket, and if not, boarding is not guaranteed. With GNV you cannot stay in the car during the crossing.
Authorisation to enter Ibiza with a car
From 1 June to 30 September, the Consell d'Eivissa restricts car traffic and requires a prior application at ibizacircular.es. Control is by number plate reading, so the details must be exact.
- No need to apply: cars with a return ticket with the same ferry company, cars with a tax address in Ibiza, official or public service vehicles, goods vehicles and motorbikes.
- With Baleà ria and a return ticket, the ferry company handles the authorisation and covers the fee, if there is one. With a one-way ticket only, you arrange the rest of the stay yourself.
- Residents of Mallorca or Menorca: procedure with no fee.
- Caravans and motorhomes: application with a campsite booking.
If you leave Ibiza for Valencia you need nothing, but you do when you come back. Driving without authorisation is punished with very high fines.
Valencia to Ibiza ferry with a dog
All three ferry companies accept pets, but not in the same way:
- Baleà ria: pet friendly seat for pets up to 8 kg in a carrier, calm kennel on deck or on the car deck, or pet friendly cabin (up to two animals if together they weigh no more than 30 kg).
- GNV: cabin that accepts pets; on outside decks, on a lead.
- Trasmed: adapted cabins, seat (under 8 kg, in a carrier) and kennels.

How to get to the port of Valencia
The port of Valencia is commercial and is separate from the city. Each ferry company has its own terminal: Baleà ria at the Estació MarÃtima on the Túria quay, Trasmed at the Poniente quay and GNV at the Perfecto Palacio quay. What counts is what your ticket says.
With a car, there are customs arches at the entrance: say you are travelling with Baleà ria. There is a good stretch inside the port to its terminal. Cars that are not boarding cannot stay, so if someone is seeing you off, they should drop you at the terminal and leave. With Baleà ria, without a car, a bus takes you from the terminal to the ship. Arrival time: with a car, Baleà ria recommends about 90 minutes; without a car, 60.
Arriving at the port of Ibiza
The ferry arrives at the port of Ibiza (Eivissa), at the gates of Dalt Vila. There is a bus and taxi to the town, and opposite the Botafoc ferry terminal there is free parking. Ibiza has two ferry terminals, Botafoc and the Estación MarÃtima Nueva Ibiza: check which one your ticket states.
As you arrive in the early hours, if your accommodation is not available at that time, Baleà ria's late disembarkation in your cabin lets you sleep a little longer on board.
Documents for the Valencia to Ibiza ferry
It is a domestic route: adults travel with their original, valid DNI, NIE or passport. Children under 14 without a document can board with the family record book, ticking "child without DNI" when booking, always with their parent or guardian. With a car, the vehicle registration document and valid insurance. If you have a discount, bring the certificate of residence or the original large family certificate.

- Buy a return with the same ferry company if you go in summer with a car. That way you do not have to apply for the Consell's authorisation yourself.
- Check in with Baleà ria from 72 hours before. Without it, boarding passes arrive only 24 hours before and you cannot choose a seat on the ships that allow it.
- Check the Valencia terminal. There are three and they are not interchangeable: going to the wrong one is a real risk.
- Give a mobile number you actually use. If the sea is rough, Baleà ria offers to change the timetable or booking and, if there is no alternative, a free change or a full refund.
