PLEASE NOTE: Any European Union citizen residing in Formentera or another Balearic Island (Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca or Menorca) is considered a Balearic Islands resident, provided they are officially registered in the municipality of their usual residence. Residents of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca are entitled to a 75% discount on the passenger fare.
Passengers residing in Formentera receive an 89% discount on the passenger fare for routes between Ibiza and Formentera.
These resident discounts only apply to the passenger fare. All types of vehicles (cars, vans, motorbikes, scooters, mopeds) and pets are excluded from the discount.
Although there is now an automated system that applies the resident discount by simply presenting your national ID (DNI), you should always have supporting documentation available, as it may be requested at Balearia offices or during boarding.
The documentation required for passengers who are residents of Formentera or the Balearic Islands (Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera) to obtain the resident discount on boat tickets is as follows:
When entering the passenger’s ID number (DNI/NIE) or passport during the booking process, Balearia’s system automatically verifies whether the passenger is registered in the SARA (System of Applications and Networks of the Administration) as a resident of Formentera or the Balearic Islands.
If the system confirms the passenger’s residency in Formentera or the Balearic Islands, the corresponding passenger fare discount will be applied (provided the origin and/or destination of the journey is one of the Balearic Islands). In this case, online check-in is available. It will only be necessary to present the ID or passport at the time of boarding. Children under the age of one who are residents of Formentera or the Balearic Islands are not required to present any proof of residency.
If the system does not detect the passenger’s residency in Formentera or the Balearic Islands, the passenger must go in person to the Balearia ticket office to collect their boarding passes.
