How long does the ferry from La Gomera to La Palma take?
Several hours, between three and four depending on the ferry company, because it includes the stop at Los Cristianos. The timetable shows the duration of each sailing and the ship; they are fast ferries, so expect seats and not a cabin.
Who runs the La Gomera to La Palma ferry
The direct line belongs to Baleària Canarias, the ferry company that has taken over the lines of the former Naviera Armas (now operated by Baleària) in the Canary Islands. It links San Sebastián de La Gomera with Santa Cruz de La Palma with a stop at Los Cristianos.
Fred. Olsen operates San Sebastián–Los Cristianos and Los Cristianos–Santa Cruz de La Palma, but not a single ticket between the two islands. If you prefer to go with Fred. Olsen, it will be two tickets and you will have to watch the margin between the two ships.

The price above is the lowest recent one for an adult without a vehicle. It is a single booking with one ticket all the way to La Palma, whereas with Fred. Olsen you would add up two tickets (San Sebastián–Los Cristianos and Los Cristianos–La Palma).

La Gomera to La Palma ferry with a car
Baleària carries cars, motorbikes, vans and caravans on this line. You declare the vehicle and its measurements when you book, and it always travels with its driver. As the stop is at Los Cristianos and you do not change ship, the car stays on board.
If it is a hire car, confirm with the company that it can cross to another island. The car deck is closed during the crossing: take up with you what you need.
La Gomera to La Palma ferry with a dog

How to get to the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera
The port of San Sebastián is next to the capital of La Gomera. If you are coming from Valle Gran Rey or Playa de Santiago, bear in mind that this line sails from San Sebastián: Fred. Olsen links Playa de Santiago, Valle Gran Rey and San Sebastián by sea, and it is a way of reaching the port without driving. Baleària closes boarding about 40 minutes before with a vehicle and 20 on foot.

The ship arrives at the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, in the capital of the island. If you are continuing elsewhere, bear in mind that La Palma is an island of mountain roads: allow plenty of time from the port.
