La Gomera to Tenerife Ferry: Departures, Ports and Ferry Companies

To get from La Gomera to Tenerife by ferry you have to leave from the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera. The ship arrives at Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife. It is run by Fred Olsen and Baleària.
No ferry to Tenerife leaves from Valle Gran Rey or Playa de Santiago. You first have to get to San Sebastián by road or on Fred Olsen's inter-island ship.
You arrive at Los Cristianos, close to Tenerife South airport. If you are flying that day, book a departure with time to spare.
La Gomera to Tenerife ferry timetable
Below you can see the departures from San Sebastián for the date you choose. There are departures from first thing in the morning until the late afternoon or evening.
If you are flying home from Tenerife South, choose a departure that gets you in several hours before your flight. If you are coming from Valle Gran Rey or Playa de Santiago, also allow for the journey to San Sebastián.

Ferry companies on the La Gomera Tenerife ferry
Fred Olsen links San Sebastián with Los Cristianos and is the only ferry company with a ship between the ports of La Gomera (San Sebastián, Playa de Santiago and Valle Gran Rey).
Baleària also runs San Sebastián – Los Cristianos by fast ferry every day. If you remember it as the former Naviera Armas (now operated by Baleària), it is this same route.

Canary Islands resident discount on La Gomera
Residents of the Canary Islands get a 75% discount on the passenger ticket. It does not apply to the car or to extras: the 75% applies only to the passenger fare; check in the booking how fees are treated.

Ferry to La Gomera with a large family
The regulations give 20% to a general large family and 50% to a special one on regular national maritime transport. Bring your valid card. More information in ferry with large family discount.
La Gomera Tenerife ferry with a car
You can take a car, motorbike, van, bicycle and caravan. Enter the vehicle when searching. A vehicle cannot travel without a passenger.
If you have hired the car on La Gomera, check with the rental company that it lets you take it to Tenerife; many do not allow it.
Ferry from La Gomera to Tenerife with a dog
Fred Olsen carries pets on a separate ticket and with limited places: in a carrier, in a kennel on deck with a camera, or loose on a lead next to your seat. A microchip is required.
Baleària offers a mat next to your seat, a seat for a carrier and calm kennels, with a valid health booklet. With a pet you cannot use the Ferry Bus in Tenerife. More information in travelling by ferry with a dog.

How to get to the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera
The port is next to the centre of San Sebastián. From Valle Gran Rey or Playa de Santiago you get there by road, by bus (guagua), taxi or car, or on Fred Olsen's inter-island ship.
If you go overland, don't cut it fine: the island's road is winding and the journey takes longer than the map suggests.
Arriving at Los Cristianos
Los Cristianos is in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, close to Tenerife South airport and the TF-1 motorway.
To get to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, there is a Ferry Bus between the capital and this port: Fred Olsen offers it to its customers and Baleària gives it free with a combined ticket without a car. No pets.
Documents for boarding to La Gomera
It is a route between islands: adults need a valid DNI, NIE or passport. If you have a resident or large family discount, bring the document that proves it. With a pet, its health booklet.
I Love Ferry tips for returning from La Gomera to Tenerife
- Choose the last departure with time to spare: if there is bad weather or delays, the last one of the afternoon is the hardest to lose.
- Flight from Tenerife South: the port is close to the airport, but don't count on arriving just in time; leave leeway for luggage and traffic.
- Staying in Valle Gran Rey or Playa de Santiago: set off early for San Sebastián; a delay on the road can make you miss the ship.
- With a car, present the vehicle early. With Baleària, boarding closes 40 minutes before with a car and 20 without.
