Lanzarote to Gran Canaria Ferry: Departing from Arrecife

With Balearia · from 6 h

To get from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria by ferry, you board at the port of Arrecife and disembark at Las Palmas. It is run by Baleària Canarias, with a sailing every day of the year.

The crossing takes several hours and the ship has cabins with bathrooms, so you can leave in the afternoon and arrive in Las Palmas the next day, or do it in a seat.

There is no ferry to Gran Canaria from Playa Blanca. From there the only line goes to Corralejo, in Fuerteventura; for Las Palmas you have to go to Arrecife first.

Below you can see the departures for your date. Baleària Canarias runs the route every day of the year, with a ship with cabins designed for the long crossing.

If you are returning to Las Palmas with an appointment in the morning, check the arrival time carefully: on an overnight crossing you arrive in the early hours, and disembarking with a car can take longer.

How long does the Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry take?

Several hours: it is one of the longest crossings between islands. That is why there are cabins and departures designed for sleeping on board. In the timetable you see the exact duration of each departure and which ship sails it.

Baleària Canarias operates the ferry between Las Palmas and Arrecife on its own. It is the former Naviera Armas line (now operated by Baleària).

Fred Olsen does not run this route: in Lanzarote it only has Playa Blanca, and from there it only sails to Corralejo (Fuerteventura). So between Gran Canaria and Lanzarote the choice is about date and accommodation, not ferry company.

What sets it apart from the other Canary Islands routes is the duration: it is one of the long crossings of the archipelago, and the ferry company provides cabins with bathrooms. Treat it as an overnight trip: spend the night on board if you choose a departure in that slot.

Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry price

The price above is the lowest recent fare for an adult. As it is a long crossing, take the type of accommodation into account: standard seat, superior seat or cabin, and the VIP and Premium extras.

Premium includes a hot meal, priority boarding with a vehicle and a refund on cancellation; VIP, a separate lounge, a snack, a drink and a change of date or time. Compare what you need.

Resident discount on the Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry

With Baleària, Canary Islands residents save 75% on the passenger ticket. What does not come down: the car, the pet and the extras.

You can calculate your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by switching on "Canary Islands resident?" in the results search; the 75% applies only to the passenger fare.

  • If you are a foreign resident, verification depends on your document (NIE, EU citizen's family member card or long-term residence card); if it is not validated automatically, bring the certificate of residence.
  • All the details in Canary Islands resident discount.

Large family discount on the Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry

Large families pay less on the passenger fare: 20% for the general category and 50% for the special one. Whether it can be added to the resident discount is confirmed by Fred Olsen and Baleària in their help pages. Bring the valid certificate. Guide: ferry with a large family discount.

Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry with a car

It takes cars, motorbikes, vans, caravans, motorhomes, bicycles and trailers (which are added to the car). You declare the vehicle with its dimensions when booking, and it cannot travel without a passenger.

You cannot get to the car deck during the crossing: take up to your seat or cabin whatever you need for several hours (chargers, medication, a coat). If the car is a hire car, confirm with the company that it can be taken on board.

Lanzarote to Gran Canaria ferry with a dog

Baleària accepts pets with their own accommodation, which goes in the booking: Pet&You and Pet&You XL (a mat next to your seat), Pet Friendly seat (in a carrier), calm kennels (ventilated spaces, with video surveillance on some ships) and a pet-friendly cabin, where the dog sleeps with you.

You need the pet's boarding card and a valid health record. It cannot stay in the car. Dogs leave the ship last. On such a long crossing, the pet-friendly cabin is the most comfortable option. More at travelling by ferry with a dog.

On board: seat, cabin and food

There is a lobby, standard seat, superior seat and double, quadruple and connecting cabins, inside and outside, all with a bathroom. Cabins exist only on the ships that have them, so check the accommodation when choosing a departure.

There is also food service on board. For anyone who does not want a night in a hotel, the cabin replaces a booking and leaves the next day ready.
