Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Puerto del Rosario Ferry: the Night Ship

With Balearia · from 6 h

The ferry from Las Palmas to Puerto del Rosario is an overnight Baleària Canarias service. It leaves from La Luz port, in Gran Canaria, and arrives at Puerto del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura. It does not sail every day of the week.

The crossing is long, several hours, and the ferry has seats and cabins with a bathroom. It is not the option for a day return trip: for that, take the fast ferry to Morro Jable.

Las Palmas to Puerto del Rosario ferry with a car

It takes cars, motorbikes, vans, caravans, motorhomes and bicycles. Vehicle check-in closes about 40 minutes before departure. As the crossing is overnight and long, you cannot get to the car deck: take chargers, medication and warm clothes up to the cabin.

If the car is a rental, check with the company beforehand that you can take it to another island.

Las Palmas to Puerto del Rosario ferry with a dog

On a trip of several hours, the most comfortable option is the pet-friendly cabin: your pet sleeps with you, with a water bowl and special cleaning. There is also a Pet&You mat next to your seat, a Pet Friendly seat in a carrier and calm kennels. You need the pet's boarding pass and health card. It cannot stay in the car and it disembarks last. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.

On board the overnight ferry

There are standard seats, upper seats and double, quadruple and connecting cabins, inside and outside, all with a bathroom. Food and drink are available on board. Cabins only exist on the ferries that have them; check the accommodation when you choose your sailing. With a cabin you sleep and arrive rested.

I Love Ferry tips for the overnight ferry to Puerto del Rosario

  • Check that your date has a ferry. It does not sail every day and, in the opposite direction, it sails on other days.
  • Cabin if you sleep, upper seat if not. A standard seat for a whole night is tiring.
  • Take up to the cabin what you need. Once under way you cannot get to the car deck.
  • If you are heading north or south, allow for the drive after arrival: Puerto del Rosario is far from Corralejo and from Morro Jable.
  • For a day trip, the fast ferry to Morro Jable is better.
