Naples to Cagliari Ferry: Overnight Crossing from the Bay to Southern Sardinia
With Grimaldi Lines
To get from Naples to Cagliari by ferry, Grimaldi Lines operates a direct afternoon departure three times a week, arriving in Cagliari, in southern Sardinia, in mid-morning the next day.
It is the longest of Grimaldi's routes to Cagliari: a crossing of more than half a day, with a night on board. It is a territorial continuity route, with few departures a week.
The calendar published by Grimaldi runs to the end of the year; check your date in the ILF search.

Grimaldi Lines on Naples to Cagliari
Grimaldi Lines is the only ferry company on this route. Tirrenia does not operate Cagliari on its current website. Grimaldi links Cagliari with Naples, Palermo and Civitavecchia, and the company runs the route on a calendar by periods, not a fixed timetable all year round.
It offers cabins, armchairs and deck passage, and its own accommodation for dogs and cats.
Naples to Cagliari ferry price
The price above is the lowest recent fare for an adult without a vehicle. As this is a long crossing with a cabin, the accommodation weighs more than on a short route: the cabin costs more than the armchair or deck passage. The car is paid separately.
As a territorial continuity route, the resident fare meets obligations to the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and does not apply to port charges.
Children and discounts from Naples to Cagliari
Under 3s travel free; ages 3 to 12 pay 50% of the fare, without fixed charges or services. Young people aged 12 to 26 and over-60s get 20% off. Residents of Sardinia have a Grimaldi fare of their own on this route; check with us whether we can apply it before booking.
Naples to Cagliari ferry with a car
To cross with a car from Campania to Sardinia, this route avoids going via Rome and Civitavecchia. Grimaldi accepts cars up to 1.90 m high and 5 m long, motorhomes, motorbikes and bicycles free of charge if you add them to the booking. Only one vehicle per passenger, with total dimensions that include bike racks.
Arrive with the notice indicated on your ticket: at the latest 2 hours with a vehicle.
Naples to Cagliari ferry with a dog
Add the pet to the ticket. In a cabin, only with the pet-in-cabin service: up to three animals, bedding kit and final cleaning. On the outer decks, on a lead and muzzled; in common areas, only in a carrier and at the discretion of the purser. With a long crossing, this is the route where a pet cabin is most worthwhile.
On board: an overnight crossing
This is the Grimaldi route on which a cabin is most advisable: you spend a whole night at sea. Armchairs and deck passage are an economical option, but the crossing is long. If you travel with children, a cabin makes the night easier.
