Naples to Palermo Ferry: Daily GNV and Grimaldi, Overnight Crossing

With Grimaldi Lines

To get from Naples to Palermo by ferry there are two ferry companies: GNV, which operates daily all year round, and Grimaldi, with a seasonal calendar. They are overnight crossings between the port of Naples and the port of Palermo.

You leave in the late afternoon or evening and arrive the next morning. It is the route with the most choice to the island of Sicily from the mainland.

If you prefer to arrive via Termini Imerese, GNV also has Naples–Termini Imerese, a little shorter.

Naples to Palermo ferry timetable

In the timetable you can see the departures for the date you choose, with the ferry company. GNV has a daily departure all year round, in the late afternoon or evening. Grimaldi publishes several departures a week by season, also overnight in this direction. For the return, see the Palermo Naples ferry, where Grimaldi also has some daytime departures.

Check the departures for your date in our search engine. Schedules and prices

Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.

  • GNV: daily line all year round, overnight crossing. Pet-friendly cabins and a fare for residents of the island.
  • Grimaldi Lines: seasonal calendar with several departures a week, overnight in this direction. Its Sicilian resident fare includes Naples–Palermo.

If one does not sail on your day, the other may.

Naples to Palermo ferry price

The price you see above is the lowest recent fare for an adult without a vehicle. With two ferry companies, compare:

  • GNV and Grimaldi, with their own fares and offers.
  • The accommodation: seat or cabin.
  • The vehicle, which is paid separately, and the season.

Children and island resident fare

Grimaldi: under 3s free and ages three to twelve at a reduced fare; discounts for young people and over-60s. GNV calculates the children's fare when you enter their age.

Island residents: GNV and Grimaldi have their own fare with conditions (it does not apply to charges or on-board services; with GNV, the ticket is non-refundable). It is not an ILF discount: ask us.

Naples to Palermo ferry with a car

With GNV, the driver boards with the car alone and the other passengers go on foot (SOLAS rule); liquefied gas must be declared when boarding. With Grimaldi, you must present yourself at the latest two hours before with a vehicle, and the maximum dimensions include bike racks and roof boxes.

Naples to Palermo ferry with a dog

GNV has the "Four-legged Friends Cabin" (maximum two pets, limited), late departure and FIDO PARK areas. Grimaldi has its own accommodation and a cabin with a specific service. More on ferry with a dog.

On board on the overnight crossing

The crossing lasts all night: a cabin is the comfortable choice. GNV has common areas and, since this summer, pets can enter designated catering and shop areas.

Ports of Naples and Palermo

How to get to the port of Naples

Naples is the city's port and the closest to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We have not confirmed each ferry company's terminal: check your boarding pass to know which one to go to and how early.

Arrival in Palermo: port, centre and bus

The port of Palermo is on Calata Marinai d'Italia; the GNV ticket office is on Calata Puntone. Palermo Centrale station is about two kilometres away, with buses 101, 102, 107 and 230.
