Olbia to Livorno Ferry: Moby and Grimaldi, Day and Night
With Grimaldi Lines
To get from Olbia to Livorno by ferry you have two direct ferry companies, Moby and Grimaldi, which operate all year. They leave from the port of Olbia and arrive at the port of Livorno, in Tuscany, with a day or night ship.
Moby presents it as its historic route. Grimaldi operates it with a seasonal calendar in which the days of day and night ships change: check the day of your trip.
Livorno puts you close to Pisa, Florence and the motorway to the north and centre of Italy, without going through Rome.
Olbia to Livorno ferry timetable
The timetable shows the departures for the date you chose, with the ferry company and the duration of each one. There are day and night ships.
Grimaldi's seasonal calendar
Grimaldi does not operate the same all year: depending on the period, the day ship sails on some days of the week and the night ship almost daily. If you search for a specific day and only see Moby, Grimaldi may not sail that day. Moby keeps the route running all year round. For the return, the page is the Livorno Olbia ferry.

Moby and Grimaldi on the Olbia to Livorno ferry
- Moby: operator of the historic route, all year, with day and night ships, cabins, armchair seats and cabins for animals.
- Grimaldi Lines: all year, also day and night, with a seasonal calendar. It offers a pet-in-cabin service, free travel for children under three and discounts for young people and over-sixties.
Both have a fare for Sardinia residents: at Grimaldi it is called "Sardinians Doc" and at Moby it covers the Livorno-Olbia route.
Olbia to Livorno ferry price
The price you see above is the lowest recent one for one adult without a vehicle. With two ferry companies on the same route, the most useful thing is to compare:
- Moby and Grimaldi publish different fares and offers for cars, motorbikes and motorhomes.
- Day or night: on the night ship you can add a cabin, at a different price.
- The season and long weekends, with high demand from travellers going to and from Sardinia.
Children and Sardinia resident discount
With Grimaldi, children under three travel free and those from three to twelve get a reduced fare on the passage, excluding taxes and services. There are also offers for young people and for over-sixties. With Moby, the conditions for children are calculated when you enter their age.
Sardinia residents: both ferry companies have their own fare for the holder and their family members. It is not an ILF discount and it does not apply to taxes and on-board services; ask us how to book it.
Olbia to Livorno ferry with a car
Enter your vehicle when you search: car, motorbike, motorhome or van. With Moby, check-in with a vehicle is an hour and a half before departure, in both Olbia and Livorno. Grimaldi asks for two hours before at the latest with a vehicle and one hour without one.
Grimaldi sets maximum dimensions for cars and motorhomes, which include bike racks and roof boxes: check them when you book. Bicycles and electric scooters travel free if you add them to the booking.
Olbia to Livorno ferry with a dog
With Moby, animals travel in designated cabins (up to three, limited places), on the outdoor decks and in their accommodation; not in the shared lounges. With Grimaldi, the dog is added to the booking and can go in the cabin with the "pet in cabin" service, in dedicated accommodation, or in a carrier in the shared areas at the purser's discretion.
