How to get to the port of Los Cristianos

The port of Los Cristianos is in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, next to the beach. You get there by the TF-1 motorway and it is close to Tenerife South airport.

Arriving in San Sebastián de La Gomera

The ferry arrives at the port of San Sebastián, next to the centre of the capital. From there the buses leave for the island's villages, and there are taxis and hire cars.

To go to the west or south coast you have two options: by road, or Fred Olsen's inter-island ship to Valle Gran Rey and Playa de Santiago.

Documents for boarding to La Gomera

It is a route between islands: adults need a valid DNI, NIE or passport. If you have a resident or large family discount, bring the document that proves it. With a pet, its health record.

I Love Ferry tips for going from Tenerife to La Gomera

  • Choose the port without hesitation: it is Los Cristianos, not Santa Cruz. If you set off from the north of Tenerife, allow for the journey by road.
  • With a car, arrive with time to spare: boarding closes earlier with a vehicle than without one. With Baleària, boarding closes 40 minutes before with a car and 20 without a car.
  • If the sea is rough, the ferry company may change or cancel departures. Check the status of your trip before leaving and, if it affects you, write to us.
  • Choose a fare with changes if your return is not fixed: some allow you to move the date and time.
  • Residents: work out your price by switching on “Canary Islands resident?” on I Love Ferry (iloveferry.com/ferris); the car gets no discount.
