Fuerteventura to Las Palmas Ferry: Sailings from Morro Jable

With Fred Olsen, Balearia

The ferry from Fuerteventura to Las Palmas leaves from the port of Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura, or from Puerto del Rosario, and arrives at the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the La Luz area.

From Morro Jable there is a fast ferry run by Baleària Canarias and by Fred Olsen. From Puerto del Rosario there is an overnight Baleària ferry, with seats and cabins.

To get to Las Palmas city you don't need to change port on Gran Canaria: the ferry drops you in the capital itself, a short taxi or bus ride from the centre and Las Canteras.

Fuerteventura to Las Palmas ferry timetable

The timetable shows the sailings for your date. If you are going to Las Palmas for an appointment or a flight, look at the arrival time, not the departure time: the fast ferry from Morro Jable arrives in a little under two hours, and the overnight ferry from Puerto del Rosario arrives in the early hours.

Leave a margin at the port: boarding closes about 40 minutes before departure with a car, and later on foot.

There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:

Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.

Baleària Canarias runs Morro Jable–Las Palmas (fast ferry) and Puerto del Rosario–Las Palmas (overnight). It is the former Naviera Armas line (now operated by Baleària).

Fred Olsen runs only Morro Jable–Las Palmas. Any sailing you see from Puerto del Rosario is Baleària.

Fuerteventura to Las Palmas ferry price

The price above is the lowest recent one for an adult. On the overnight ferry, choosing a cabin instead of a seat raises the price; on the fast ferry, the price changes by ferry company and time. The car is added separately.

Resident discount on the Fuerteventura to Las Palmas ferry

If you live in the Canary Islands, you get a 75% discount on the passenger fare. It does not cover the car, pets or extras. Calculate your resident price on I Love Ferry (iloveferry.com/ferris) by switching on “Resident in the Canary Islands?”; bring your DNI or NIE, and if the system does not verify you, your certificate of residence.

More on the discount for Canary Islands residents.

Large family discount to Las Palmas

The large family card gives 20% (general) or 50% (special) and can be combined with the resident discount. See the large family guide.

Fuerteventura to Las Palmas ferry with a dog

Both ferry companies accept dogs. Baleària includes the dog in the booking (with a health record book) and offers a Pet&You mat, a Pet Friendly seat or a pet friendly cabin; Fred Olsen asks for a microchip and provides a carrier, Pet Room or Pet Sofa. Remember: the Las Palmas Ferry Bus does not allow pets. More on travelling by ferry with a dog.

Ports of Fuerteventura and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Morro Jable or Puerto del Rosario port: which is closer

Morro Jable is at the far south, on the Jandía peninsula; it is the natural port if you are staying in Morro Jable, Jandía or Costa Calma. Puerto del Rosario is the capital, in the east. If you live in the north, allow for a long road journey to either of them.

Arriving at the port of Las Palmas (La Luz)

The port of Las Palmas is in La Luz, next to the Santa Catalina district. Baleària has a free Ferry Bus on some sailings, between the Oficina de la Fundación Puerto de Las Palmas and the Muelle Nelson Mandela / La Esfinge. If it does not match your sailing, you can get there by taxi or bus.

With a car, you drive straight off the ferry into the city streets: set your destination in the satnav before boarding.

Getting around Las Palmas on arrival

If you have crossed for a day in the city, go on foot and by bus: parking around the port and Las Canteras is slow. If you have arrived by car because you are heading to the south of Gran Canaria, you don't need to go into the centre: the port exit connects with the island's motorways.

Documents for travelling to Las Palmas

This is a route between islands: a valid ID document for everyone. With a car, the vehicle registration document and insurance. With a pet, a health record book (Baleària) or a microchip (Fred Olsen).

I Love Ferry tips for going from Fuerteventura to Las Palmas

  • Compare by arrival time. If you have an appointment or a flight, that time matters more than the name of the ferry company.
  • On the overnight ferry, think carefully before booking a cabin or a seat. If you sleep, the cabin pays for the hotel night; if not, a superior seat is more comfortable than the standard one.
  • With a car, get to the port with time to spare. Boarding closes earlier for vehicles than for foot passengers.
  • If the ferry changes because of bad weather, you are told by mobile and email. Check that your booking details are correct.
