With Balearia

Baleària Canarias offers the last leg to Las Palmas and Fred Olsen Express to Agaete. Between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos there is a free Ferry Bus from each ferry company.

It is a long day: check when the last ship from Santa Cruz to Gran Canaria leaves before choosing your departure from La Palma.

There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:

Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.

How long does it take to get from La Palma (Santa Cruz de La Palma) to Gran Canaria?

Count on a full day: it is two ships, the transfer in Tenerife and the waits. Baleària gives 8 h 45 min of travel time for the combined journey (door to door, including the transfer). Whether or not a return trip in a single day is possible:.

Between Gran Canaria and La Palma there is no direct line in any ferry company's data. The journey is made up of legs:

  • Baleària Canarias sells it as a combined journey: Las Palmas with Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ferry Bus or car to Los Cristianos, and Los Cristianos with Santa Cruz de La Palma. They are two independent bookings; Baleària gives 8 h 45 min of travel time, door to door and including the transfer.
  • Fred Olsen Express runs Agaete with Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Los Cristianos with Santa Cruz de La Palma, with its Ferry Bus between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos for those travelling in transit.
  • Baleària does not use Agaete and Fred Olsen does not sail from Las Palmas to Tenerife: choose the port according to the ferry company.

La Palma Gran Canaria ferry price

The price you see above is the lowest recent fare for one leg, not for the whole journey. The total is the sum of the two tickets: Gran Canaria with Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos with La Palma.

If you travel without a car, the free Ferry Bus between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos saves you the transfer; with a car, the TF-1 means a few more kilometres of fuel.

Resident discount on the La Palma Gran Canaria ferry

With Baleària, Canary Islands residents save 75% on the passenger ticket. What does not go down: the car, the pet and extras.

You can calculate your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by turning on the "Resident in the Canary Islands?" switch in the results search; the 75% applies only to the passenger fare.

  • If you are a foreign resident, verification depends on your document (NIE, EU citizen's family member card or long-term card); if it does not validate automatically, bring the certificate of residence.
  • All the details, in Canary Islands resident discount.

Large family discount La Palma Gran Canaria

General large family: 20%. Special: 50%. It applies to the passenger ticket and is added to the Canary Islands resident discount, according to both ferry companies. Bring your valid card. Guide: ferry with a large family discount.

La Palma Gran Canaria ferry with a car

Taking a car is possible with both ferry companies, but check that it is accepted on every leg: they are different tickets. Between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos you drive yourself, a good hour on the TF-1.

In La Palma a car is almost essential to see the island. If you are not taking one, rent on arrival.

La Palma Gran Canaria ferry with a dog

With a pet, the combined journey needs care: the Ferry Bus between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos does not accept pets with either ferry company. Move the dog yourself, by car, taxi or bus.

On the ships: Pet&You, Pet Friendly seat and calm kennels with Baleària; Pet Carrier, Pet Room and Pet Sofa with Fred Olsen. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.

On board on each leg

The ships from Los Cristianos to La Palma are fast ferries, with standard and upper seats and a cafeteria. Between Gran Canaria and Tenerife you also travel in a seat, with lounges. There are no cabins on this combination.

Ports of La Palma (Santa Cruz de La Palma) and Gran Canaria

Departure from Santa Cruz de La Palma

The port of Santa Cruz de La Palma is the capital's port. The ferry to Los Cristianos leaves from there, which is the first leg of the return. Arrive with time to spare: both ferry companies close boarding before departure.

Arriving in Las Palmas

The last ship arrives at Las Palmas (La Luz). On some departures there is a free Baleària Ferry Bus to the Puerto Foundation Office. From there, bus or taxi.

How to connect the two ships in Tenerife

Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos are on opposite sides of Tenerife. Without a car, the free Ferry Bus from Baleària or Fred Olsen links them; you have to add it when buying and seats are limited. Fred Olsen asks you to book it at least 48 hours ahead and, if you arrive late, it moves you to the next journey. With a car, you drive yourself on the TF-1.

Documents for travelling La Palma Gran Canaria

Valid identity document (DNI, NIE or passport) for each passenger and each ticket. With a car, the vehicle registration document and insurance. As the tickets are separate, bring the booking reference for each leg.
