There is no direct ferry from Mallorca to Formentera. You go via Ibiza: Palma-Ibiza with Baleà ria or Trasmed, and Ibiza-La Savina with Baleà ria, Trasmapi or Formentera Lines.
From Mallorca, the usual combination leaves from Palma. In the table below you can see each leg with its ferry company and its page.
With a car, that means two tickets and, in summer, a Formentera permit. Balearic Islands residents get a 75% discount on the passenger fare.

How long does it take to get from Mallorca to Formentera?
It is the sum of a long leg (Palma-Ibiza), the connection in Ibiza and a short hop to La Savina. The total duration depends on whether the first ship is a fast ferry or a conventional one, and on how long your connection is.
Who runs the Mallorca to Formentera ferry
- Baleà ria: runs both legs, with a fast ferry and a ferry between Palma and Ibiza and simple boarding on Ibiza-Formentera, where the boarding passes arrive with the confirmation.
- Trasmed (Trasmed GLE, Grimaldi group): Palma-Ibiza by conventional ferry.
- Trasmapi: Ibiza-La Savina, with a crossing of about 30 minutes, vehicles and 20 kg of luggage without a car.
- Formentera Lines: Ibiza-La Savina.

Large family discount on the Mallorca to Formentera ferry

Mallorca to Formentera ferry with a car
Taking a car means two vehicle tickets, one per leg, and paperwork in summer.
Permits between 1 June and 30 September
Between 1 June and 30 September, the Consell de Formentera limits the entry of motor vehicles and requires a special permit, which is processed at formentera.eco. If you pass through Ibiza with a car on your way to Formentera, transit through Ibiza is also processed at ibizacircular.es, with no fee.
If you are going for only a few days, consider renting the car or motorbike in La Savina: you avoid the permit and a vehicle ticket.
Mallorca to Formentera ferry with a dog
You have to book the pet on each leg. Baleà ria has a pet friendly seat for pets up to 8 kg, a calm den and a pet friendly cabin; Trasmed accepts pets in an adapted cabin, a seat (under 8 kg, in a carrier) or kennels; Trasmapi accepts them free of charge, on a lead or in a carrier, with a microchip and vaccinations. How to get to the port of Palma
It is next to the centre of Palma: you can get there on foot, by city bus or by taxi. The ferry companies' terminals are on different quays; your ticket tells you which is yours.
Arriving in La Savina (Formentera)
La Savina is Formentera's only passenger port, with a public bus and car, motorbike and bike hire on arrival.
Documents for the Mallorca to Formentera ferry
Domestic route: original, valid DNI, NIE or passport. Children under 14 without a document travel with the family book or a Civil Registry certificate and with a parent or guardian. If you have a discount, bring the proof.
