Arrecife to Santa Cruz de Tenerife Ferry: A Journey in Two Legs
With Balearia
The Lanzarote to Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry leaves from Arrecife and calls at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Baleària Canarias offers it as a combined booking, but not every day.
If the combined journey does not fit your date, you can make the trip in separate legs: Arrecife to Las Palmas and Las Palmas to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Both do sail daily.
There is no ferry from Playa Blanca to Tenerife or from Lanzarote to Los Cristianos. For those two departures you have to go through Arrecife or Santa Cruz.
Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry timetable
The timetable above shows the combined sailings. As they are not daily, it is worth also looking at the separate legs, which are, if your date has no combined journey.
With separate legs you can spend a few hours or a night in Las Palmas between one ferry and the other, if you want to split the trip.
There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:
Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.
How long does the ferry from Lanzarote to Santa Cruz de Tenerife take?
A long day if you do it as a combined journey. With separate legs, it depends on how much time you spend in Las Palmas between one and the other. The timetable shows the duration of each leg and the wait.
Which ferry company runs Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Only Baleària Canarias, on all legs. Its advantage here is combining Arrecife, Las Palmas and Santa Cruz under one booking reference and allowing the legs to be bought separately when that suits.
Fred Olsen Express has Gran Canaria and Tenerife, but no route with Lanzarote except Playa Blanca with Corralejo. That difference means that in Lanzarote the choice is limited to Baleària.
Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry price
The price above is the lowest recent one for an adult with both legs. Bought separately, the amounts change, and each ticket has its own change conditions. Compare the total price of the combined journey with the sum of the two legs for your date.
Resident discount on the Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry
Residents of the Canary Islands get 75% off the fare with Baleària. It does not apply to the car, the pet or extras (the 75% applies only to the fare; check on the booking how taxes are treated), so with a car the real saving is smaller.
You can work out your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by switching on “Resident in the Canary Islands?” in the results search; the 75% applies only to the fare.
Residence is proved electronically and, if that fails, with the certificate of residence and the identity document shown on it. More detail in Canary Islands resident discount.
Large family from Lanzarote to Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Large family: 20% for the general card and 50% for the special one on the fare, compatible with the resident discount. Bring the valid card. Guide: ferry with large family discount.
Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry with a car
With a car, the combined journey is simpler: one booking, one declared vehicle and a guided change of ship. If you buy separate legs, declare the car on both tickets with the same dimensions and check that it boards on both. There is no access to the car deck during the crossing.
Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry with a dog
Baleària allows the pet on the booking, with a boarding card and health record, and accommodates it in Pet&You, Pet Friendly seat, calm kennels or a pet friendly cabin. On a day with two ferries, the cabin is the most comfortable for the first leg. If you buy separate legs, add the pet on both tickets. More: travelling by ferry with a dog.
On board on the trip from Lanzarote to Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The long leg is from Arrecife to Las Palmas, and it is on a ferry with seats, cabins and food service. Choose a cabin if you leave in the afternoon and want to sleep; if the trip is short or by day, a superior seat is enough. The second leg, from Las Palmas to Santa Cruz, is a fast ferry.
Ports of Lanzarote (Arrecife) and Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife)
Port of Tenerife
How to get to the port of Arrecife
The port of Arrecife is in the capital and has road access to the airport and to Teguise. With a car, leave a margin; without a car, take a taxi from the airport. From Playa Blanca you have to go up to Arrecife by road.
Arrival at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The ferry docks at Santa Cruz, next to the centre. With the combined journey or with the separate leg, it is the same port. For the south of Tenerife or Los Cristianos, it is a good hour by road.
How to continue from Santa Cruz de Tenerife
There is a tram and buses to the centre and La Laguna. For the south and Los Cristianos, car, taxi or the free Baleària Ferry Bus for those travelling without a vehicle with a combined ticket (pets are not accepted).
Documents for the Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife ferry
A valid DNI, NIE or passport per passenger. With a car, registration document, technical data sheet and insurance. With a discount, resident accreditation or large family card. If you buy separate legs, have both tickets to hand at the port.
I Love Ferry tips for Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- Compare the combined journey and the separate legs. The combined journey is more convenient; separate legs are more flexible if there is no sailing on your day.
- If you buy separate legs, leave a margin in Las Palmas. If the first is delayed, the second sails anyway: it is best not to cut the change too fine.
- Cabin on the long leg. It is what rests you most on a full-day trip.
- Sea and wind. Baleària may change the timetable or the ship; leave a real mobile number and email.
- Resident: work out your price on I Love Ferry (iloveferry.com/ferris) by switching on “Resident in the Canary Islands?”, also on each separate leg.
Why book Lanzarote Santa Cruz de Tenerife with I Love Ferry
- You see the combined journey and the separate legs in the same search.
- Resident and large family discounts, on each booking.
- If something changes on a leg, a person on the team reorganises the rest with you.
