Huelva to Fuerteventura Ferry: No Direct Sailing, How to Go via Las Palmas
With Fred Olsen
There is no direct ferry from Huelva to Fuerteventura. Fred Olsen links Huelva with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and with Santa Cruz de Tenerife; from those cities you have to continue to Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura.
The shortest route is Huelva–Las Palmas with Fred Olsen and then Las Palmas–Morro Jable with Fred Olsen or Baleària. They are two separate bookings.
The Huelva ferry sails several times a week, not daily: start by looking at those days.
If arriving on the peninsula via Cádiz suits you, Baleària links Cádiz with Fuerteventura, with a change of port in Lanzarote.
Timetable for getting from Huelva to Fuerteventura
There is no single timetable. The Huelva ferry is the one that sets the pace: it sails several times a week, not daily, and it is a long crossing. Look first at those days in the search and then look for the Las Palmas to Morro Jable ferry that arrives with time to spare. The Las Palmas to Morro Jable departures are daily.

For the return trip, see the page for the Fuerteventura Huelva ferry.
There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:
Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.
How long does the trip from Huelva to Fuerteventura take?
More than a day and a half on the Huelva ferry alone, plus the leg between islands and the wait. The sources do not agree on the exact times, so the real duration of each departure is the one you see in the search. Allow two long days of travel.
Who runs the Huelva to Fuerteventura ferry
Fred Olsen is the only ferry company with a ship to Huelva: it sails from Las Palmas and from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Baleària has no route from Huelva; it does link Las Palmas with Morro Jable and Cádiz with the islands.
If you were looking for the former Naviera Armas (now operated by Baleària), its line to the peninsula sails from Cádiz, not from Huelva. Fred Olsen has cabins on the Huelva line and fast ferries between islands.
Price of getting from Huelva to Fuerteventura
The total price adds up the two legs. On the Huelva ferry, the main factor is the accommodation: double or quadruple cabin, inside or outside, and the vehicle if you take one. The short leg between islands is usually the cheaper one.
Fred Olsen allows refunds on all fares on the Huelva line; for the leg to Morro Jable, it depends on the fare and the ferry company. Compare it before buying, in case the Huelva ferry moves.

Residents of the Canary Islands get a 75% discount on the passenger ticket between the Canary Islands and the rest of Spain, and between islands. It does not apply to the car or to extras such as the cabin.

- The ferry company verifies residence with your DNI; if that fails, the certificate of residence.
- More information in Canary Islands resident discount.
Ferry to the Canary Islands with a large family
The regulations give a 20% discount to the general large family and 50% to the special one on regular domestic sea transport. Bring the card, in date, and check when booking that the fare applies it on each leg. More information in ferry with a large family discount.
Huelva to Fuerteventura with a car
Fred Olsen carries cars on the Huelva line; enter the vehicle when you search. On that crossing, access to the car deck depends on the timetable and the weather, and electric vehicles cannot be charged on board. A vehicle without a passenger is handled by the cargo department.
On the leg between islands, Fred Olsen and Baleària also carry cars. If it is a hire car, ask the company whether it can leave the island. With a car, in Huelva present the vehicle with plenty of time to spare: the ferry company asks for one to two hours before, preferably two.
Huelva Fuerteventura ferry with a dog
On the Huelva line, Fred Olsen offers a pet friendly cabin, for up to two pets of 30 kg each, or Pet Room (an outdoor kennel with a camera). You notify when buying, with a separate ticket and limited places, and a microchip is required. On the leg between islands, conditions depend on the ferry company: Fred Olsen has a carrier, Pet Room and Pet Sofa. More information in travelling by ferry with a dog.
Ports of Huelva and Fuerteventura (Morro Jable)
Port of Huelva
Port of Morro Jable
How to get to the port of Huelva
The ferry leaves from the port of Huelva. We do not have enough data on the terminal: use the one shown on your ticket. Fred Olsen does not ask for check-in or a printed card: your identity document is enough. With a car, you present yourself one to two hours before, and on foot, one hour, depending on the ferry company.
Arriving at Morro Jable (Fuerteventura)
Morro Jable is in the south of the island, in the Jandía area, and it is the port with a ferry to Gran Canaria. If your destination is in the north (Corralejo, Puerto del Rosario), expect a long road journey; in that case, look at the option via Cádiz, which arrives at Corralejo.
Documents for the ferry between the Canary Islands and the peninsula
It is a domestic route within the EU: adults need a valid DNI, NIE or passport. Fred Olsen does not use a printed boarding pass. With a resident or large family discount, bring the document that proves it. With a car, the vehicle documents.
If you are not an EU citizen, ask the Policía Nacional border control which document you need for the Huelva line: the ferry company refers you to them.
