Valle Gran Rey to San Sebastián de La Gomera Ferry: Route and Timetable
With Fred Olsen
To go from Valle Gran Rey to San Sebastián de La Gomera by ferry, you leave from the port of Vueltas, in Valle Gran Rey, and arrive at the capital’s port. It is run by Fred. Olsen Express, the only ferry company with an internal line in La Gomera.
There is no direct ferry from Valle Gran Rey to Los Cristianos: to return to Tenerife you have to go through San Sebastián, where the Fred. Olsen and Baleària ferries leave from.
Canary Islands residents get a 75% discount on the passenger fare, not on the car.
Valle Gran Rey San Sebastián de La Gomera ferry timetable
Below you can see the departures for your date. If you are returning to Tenerife, start with the time of the Los Cristianos ferry and work backwards: there are not many departures here and the sea can change the plan.
For this leg Fred. Olsen declares a time equal to the sum of the two coastal legs, so it may call at Playa de Santiago. The timetable shows the route of each departure.

Ferry company for the Valle Gran Rey San Sebastián de La Gomera ferry
Only Fred. Olsen Express. No Baleària Canarias ferry leaves Valle Gran Rey; in La Gomera it only operates at San Sebastián. When you reach the capital, you have two ferry companies to continue to Tenerife.
That lets you choose your return time, but the island ticket and the Tenerife ticket are independent, and the ferry company does not guarantee the connection between them.
Valle Gran Rey San Sebastián de La Gomera ferry price
The price you see above is the lowest recently found for a non-resident adult without a vehicle. If the ferry calls at Playa de Santiago, it is still a single ticket.
If your plan depends on a flight or a ferry, choose a fare that allows changes: a full refund only exists with Flexible and Gold fares.
Canary Islands resident discount, from Valle Gran Rey to San Sebastián
Fred. Olsen applies the 75% Canary resident discount on its internal La Gomera route. On the passenger fare only, not on the car. Verification is electronic (SARA); if it is not verified, you need a valid certificate of residence from your town hall. More at Canary Islands resident discount.
You can calculate your resident price directly on I Love Ferry, at iloveferry.com/ferris, by turning on the “Resident in the Canary Islands?” switch in the results search; the 75% applies only to the passenger fare.
Large family discount
20% general and 50% special on the passenger fare, combinable with the resident discount; certificate validated by the ferry company before the trip. More at ferry with large family discount.
Ports of La Gomera (Valle Gran Rey) and La Gomera (San Sebastián)
Port of Playa de Santiago
Port of Valle Gran Rey
Port of Vueltas, in Valle Gran Rey: how to get there
The port of Vueltas is at the far south-west of La Gomera. You reach it from San Sebastián by a mountain road with many bends, and buses are infrequent: before leaving, confirm how you will get to the port and when the last bus is.
Arrival in San Sebastián de La Gomera
The ferry berths next to the centre of the capital, which is also the port for the Tenerife ferries. That makes it easy to connect on foot, but allow time: you may have to wait for the ferry to Los Cristianos to leave.
See the La Gomera Tenerife ferry to continue your trip.
How to get to Los Cristianos from Valle Gran Rey
There is no direct line: first the ferry to San Sebastián and then the ferry to Los Cristianos. From Los Cristianos you reach the TF-1 and Tenerife South airport, so allow for the two-hour wait you might need if something is delayed.
Documents for boarding in Valle Gran Rey
To board, an identity document is enough: a valid DNI, NIE or passport. Fred. Olsen works without check-in or a printed card, and the digital DNI is only valid if you show it from the MiDNI app; a screenshot is not accepted.
If you travel with a minor who has no document, the ferry company handles it as a “minor without ID”, with the guardian’s DNI, and the family record book is requested at boarding. With a resident or large family discount, also bring the document that proves it.
