Valencia to Menorca Ferry: Mahón with Trasmed or Detours via Palma

Valencia to Menorca Ferry: Mahón with Trasmed or Detours via Palma

With Trasmed · 1 weekly departure · 16:30 hours

There is just one direct ferry route from Valencia to Menorca: Valencia–Mahón (Maó), run only by Trasmed. It is a long, overnight crossing, with a stopover on another island and very few departures, roughly weekly.

There is no ferry from Valencia to Ciutadella. To reach the west of Menorca you can go via Barcelona, with Baleària to Ciutadella, or via Palma and Alcudia, crossing from Alcudia to Ciutadella with Baleària or Menorca Lines.

If your date does not match the direct departure, the alternatives via Barcelona or via Mallorca have more dates, although they add one more leg.

Residents of the Balearic Islands get a resident discount on the passenger fare, not on the car.

Valencia to Menorca ferry timetable

Below you see the direct departure for your date, if there is one. Trasmed's line is not daily: it is normal for your particular day to have no ferry, and the crossing includes a stopover on another island before reaching Mahón. Check the calendar before booking flights, a rental car or a hotel.

If there is no departure, look at the alternatives in the table: Barcelona and Alcudia have more dates. The opposite direction is at Menorca to Valencia ferry.

  • Trasmed GLE (Grimaldi group): the only ferry company from Valencia to Mahón, with a conventional ferry, luggage with no weight limit and a cabin. Changing the ticket at the port costs money.
  • Baleària: does not sail from Valencia to Menorca, but reaches Ciutadella from Barcelona and from Alcudia.
  • Menorca Lines (Trasmapi): links Alcudia with Ciutadella.

GNV has Barcelona–Mahón, which is also an alternative if you reach Barcelona by land.

Valencia to Menorca ferry price

The price you see above is the lowest recent price for an adult without a car. As the direct route has only one ferry company, what you compare is the accommodation (seat or cabin, and on such a long crossing the cabin changes the trip) and the total cost of the alternatives: two ferry tickets, plus the road if there is a stretch by land. With a car, the price depends on its dimensions.

Balearic resident discount

If you live in the Balearic Islands you get a resident discount on the passenger ticket (according to each ferry company's resident fare; check in the search form). It does not apply to the car or the pet. State that you are a resident in the search form at iloveferry.com/ferris and bring your DNI or NIE and the certificate of residence; all passengers on the booking must be residents. More in Balearic resident discount.

Large family discount

The Spanish certificate gives 20% (general) or 50% (special) off the passenger fare on domestic routes, not on the car. Bring the original certificate and the identity document of each traveller. Guide: ferry with large family discount.

Valencia to Menorca ferry with a car

Trasmed carries cars, motorbikes, vans and motorhomes on the direct route: state the type and exact dimensions when booking. With the alternatives, you add a second ferry with the car or a road trip to Barcelona. The details are at Valencia to Mahón ferry.

Valencia to Menorca ferry with a dog

Trasmed accepts pets in an adapted cabin, a seat (under 8 kg, in a carrier) or kennels; on a long crossing, the adapted cabin is the most comfortable. Baleària has a pet friendly seat and cabin on its routes to Ciutadella; Menorca Lines accepts pets free of charge on a lead or in a carrier, with microchip and vaccinations. More in travelling by ferry with a dog.

Ports of Valencia and Menorca

Departure port: Valencia

Trasmed boards at its terminal on the Poniente quay, in the port of Valencia, a commercial port separate from the centre. If you are going to take a ferry to Palma, each ferry company has its own terminal: check yours on your ticket.

Mahón or Ciutadella: which port to choose in Menorca

Mahón, in the east, has the port inside the town and the airport about 6 km away. Ciutadella, on the west coast, is about 45 km from Mahón; there is no train, only bus and car. From Valencia, the direct ferry arrives at Mahón: if you are staying in the west, allow for that road or choose the alternatives via Barcelona or Alcudia, which end in Ciutadella.

Documents for going from Valencia to Menorca

Domestic route: valid DNI, NIE or passport for adults. Children, with their own document or with the family record book. With a car, the vehicle registration document and insurance. With a discount, the certificate of residence or the large family certificate.
