Barcelona to Porto Torres Ferry: Grimaldi to Sardinia

With Grimaldi Lines

To get from Barcelona to Sardinia by ferry, the direct route is Barcelona–Porto Torres with Grimaldi Lines. It leaves from the Maritime Station in Barcelona and arrives in the north-west of the island.

It is a route within the EU: a valid European ID card or passport is enough, no visa. Grimaldi asks you to be there 2 h before in Barcelona, with or without a vehicle.

You can take a car, motorbike, motorhome, bicycle or pet. It is the best way in for Alghero, Stintino and Asinara.

On I Love Ferry you can see the departures for your date and book with a car, cabin or pet.

Barcelona to Porto Torres ferry timetable

Grimaldi advertises an overnight departure from Barcelona and a daytime return, with year-round connections and different frequencies depending on the season. In the timetable above you see the real departures for your date.

Choose your day carefully

In summer the route fills up sooner. Look at the arrival time of each departure: it can change your first day on the island.

The return

The return from Sardinia has its own page: Porto Torres to Barcelona ferry.

There are no departures scheduled on this route in the coming days. You can travel on these routes:

Indicative schedules and subject to variation by the ferry company for operational reasons without prior notice.

This route is run by Grimaldi Lines. Grimaldi also links Barcelona with Civitavecchia and in Sardinia runs the Civitavecchia–Porto Torres, Olbia, Arbatax and Cagliari lines. Taking Barcelona–Porto Torres puts you on the island without crossing the mainland first.

On board, Grimaldi has accommodation for dogs and cats, and a "pet in cabin" service for travelling with them in a cabin.

Barcelona to Porto Torres ferry price

The price you see above is the lowest recent price for one adult without a vehicle. It changes with:

  • The season: July and August cost more, and the car deck fills up sooner.
  • The accommodation: cabin or seat.
  • The vehicle: according to its measurements. Bicycles and electric scooters travel free.
  • Taxes and services: some discounts do not apply to fixed charges or to services on board.

Children, young people and seniors on Barcelona to Porto Torres

  • Under 3: free.
  • From 3 to under 12: 50% of the fare, without fixed charges or services.
  • From 12 to 26: 20% with "New Young".
  • Over 60: 20% with "New Senior".

Enter the age of each passenger when you search.

Barcelona to Porto Torres ferry with a car

Grimaldi accepts cars up to 1.90 m high and 5 m long, motorhomes and minibuses up to 9 m long, motorbikes and scooters. Only one vehicle per passenger. With a towed boat, the tank must be empty and the battery disconnected, and it is declared at check-in.

With a car in Sardinia you gain mobility: the island is large and public transport between villages is limited (our inference). Measure the car with all its luggage: the measurements include bike racks and roof boxes.

Barcelona to Porto Torres ferry with a dog

With Grimaldi your dog travels if you add it to the ticket. In a cabin only with the "pet in cabin" service, up to 3 pets, with a bedding kit and final cleaning; on outer decks, on a lead and with a muzzle. It recommends an anti-parasite certificate for the cabin.

It is a route within the EU: European pet passport, microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. More information in ferry with a dog.

On board the Barcelona to Porto Torres ferry

It is a long crossing, with a night on board on many departures: book a cabin. Some departures with a stopover allow free late check-out. Keep in the cabin what you need for the night.
